In Queensland, carpentry becomes licensed building work once a job is worth more than $3,300 in labour and materials combined — decks, pergolas, structural framing, restumping and built-in joinery all cross that line easily. A QBCC Carpentry licence is the trade class that covers this work, and it matters beyond legality: only a licensed contractor can pay the premium into the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme, so an unlicensed cash job on a deck or extension leaves you with no cover for non-completion, defects or subsidence. Structural timber work is also licensable regardless of value. Every carpenter listed here is checked against the official QBCC licensee register — not self-declared.
